About CRMEP
The Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (CRMEP) was founded in 1994 and has developed a national and international reputation for research and teaching in modern European philosophy.
Foundation and Early Years
CRMEP was established at Middlesex University in 1994 with the aim of providing a focus for research and teaching in modern European philosophy. From its inception, the Centre has been committed to the idea that philosophy must engage with contemporary social and political issues, cultural practices, and other theoretical disciplines.
Transition to Kingston University
In 2010, CRMEP moved to Kingston University, London, where it continued to develop its distinctive research profile and teaching programs. The move to Kingston allowed the Centre to expand its activities and strengthen its international connections.
Publishing and Academic Output
Throughout its history, CRMEP has been at the forefront of philosophical publishing, producing numerous books, journals, and articles that have made significant contributions to contemporary philosophical debates. The Centre has organized many international conferences and workshops, bringing together leading philosophers from around the world.
Research Focus
CRMEP's research focuses on modern European philosophy, in particular post-Kantian philosophy, including German Idealism, phenomenology, critical theory, and post-structuralism. The Centre is particularly interested in the relationship between philosophy and other disciplines, such as art, politics, and science.
Current Activities
Today, CRMEP continues to be a vibrant center for philosophical research. The Centre hosts regular research seminars, workshops, and conferences, and publishes books and articles that contribute to contemporary philosophical debates.
